Umkhumbi Lodge

Umkhumbi is the Zulu name for the Red Duiker. a shy small red antelope. which is found in the sand forests of Zululand. Nyala and Suni can also be spotted. Umkhumbi is also well known for its awesome birdlife with regular sightings of Twinspots.

Umkhumbi Lodge is family owned and managed and is well located for guests wishing to visit the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. False Bay. Mkuze Game Reserve, Sodwana Bay. Lake St Lucia and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and is situated in an indigenous sand forest and the focus is on conservation through education and environmental awareness.

Start your evening sipping sundowners with a view over the bushveld. swapping stories in the cozy Lapa area with different guests and guides. and even the occasional bushbaby. Watching the sunset from the restaurant deck is not to be missed!
Umkhumbi is also popular for family holidays. as little ones don’t need to sleep in makeshift beds. or far away from their parents as interleading chalets are available.

There is a total of 12 chalets nestled in the bush with personal en-suite bathrooms with shower and bath. All chalets are outfitted with a fridge. tea and coffee making facilities. private patio and air conditioning.

Umkhumbi does have extra beds and is happy to put extra beds in your chalet if required. Family rooms have an inter-leading door making these units perfect for families. as kids can easily sleep close by while you still enjoy your privacy.
